The following is the title and summaiy of Ordinance No. 14-002 passed by the Spokane Valley City
Council on the i 1" day of February,2014:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY,
WASHINGTON, ADOPTING INTERIM DEVELOPMENT AMENDMENTS TO SPOKANE
VALLEY MUNICIPAL CODE APPENDIX A, SPOKANE VALLEY MUNICIPAL CODE
SECTION 19.120.010, AND ADOPTING CHAPTER 19.85 OF THE SPOKANE VALLEY
MUNICIPAL CODE TO ESTABLISH ZONING FOR RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA USES,
TO ESTABLISH INTERIM BUFFER ZONES BETWEEN RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA
PRODUCTION, PROCESSING, AND RETAIL USES AND TRAILS, SCHOOLS, AND
LIBRARY PROPERTIES,AND OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO.
Section 1 adopts the ordinance recitals as findings of fact in support of this Ordinance; Section 2 amends
Appendix A of the Spokane Valley Municipal Code (SVMC) to include the definitions of marijuana
processing, marijuana production, and marijuana sales. Section 3 amends SVMC 19.120.010 by
including marijuana processing, marijuana production, and marijuana sales in the Schedule of Permitted
Uses Matrix. Section 4 adopts new chapter 19.85 "Marijuana Production Standards," "Marijuana
Processing Standards," and "Marijuana Retail Sales Standards." Section 5 sets a public hearing on this
matter before City Council for March 25, 2014. Section 6 sets the duration of this interim zoning as six
months; and Section 10 states that this ordinance shall be in full force and effect five days after
publication of the Ordinance or summaiy in the official newspaper of the City of Spokane Valley.
