In August 1 of 1976 the building on said subject property was remodeled. In
remodeling the property, the owners removed the present sign to have it re-
rnodeled to conform with the decor of the new structure. Working with Tri-
State Sign Company, the sign company contacted the Building Code Department
to determine the type of sign that could be placed in the present zone.
The Building Codes Department related to Tri-State Sign Company that the sign
that was on the property that was being remodeled would conform with the present
zone and that there was no particular problem. After the sign was built and
prior to the building permit being issued, Tri-State Sign Company contacted the
Building Codes Department to take out a building permit and to put the sign up.
When Tri-State Sign Company contacted Bill Fergin at the Building Codes Depart-
ment it was discovered that the permit taken out in 1973 by another applicant
was erroneously filled out and the zone that Mr. Fergin was relating to was the
zone that was taken off that permit which showed that it was commercial zone,
not local business.
At this present time, the sign in question has been in this location for approx-
imately 21 years. We have had no problems with it in the past with public or
traffic safety, therefore, we would like to be allowed to reinstate this sign.
