Re: House & Garage on 1220 N. Boeing, Spokane, WA 99206
Since July of 1992 we have been living in our house at 9524 E. Sharp Avenue in the Spokane
Valley, and we have had to look at the house noted above, and it is disgusting. It's not only
terrible to look at, but we believe that it is a hazard for the four families that have lived in it
since that time.
Currently the family living in it now, whom we believe have four children, have to live with
windows broken out of the front North bedroom and a window broken out of the front South
living room. (Do not know if any others are broken out in the back.) It has rained since they
moved in approximately two months ago, so I am more than positive it rained into that
bedroom and living room. What will happen this winter? Does this family have to live with no
windows because the Landlord is too "cheap" to replace them!? We have heard he collects
over $600 per month for this broken down home, but yet he is not forced to fix it up so it is
livable. Also, the garage on that property appears to be ready to fall down at any time. One
can drive by and see that there are several boards missing on the outside, which must hinder
the support of that structure. The kids living in the home, plus the neighbor kids are always
playing outside and around the garage and house.
We have talked to two of the neighbors who have lived across from this home for several
years, and they say it was almost condemned once, but that it is only on the border line. They
say when renters are already in it, it is very difficult to have anything done about it. (?)
Besides the problems we can see with the home just from looking at it, we have heard a rumor
that there is a gas leak in the home, and who knows if this has been taken care of, if to be
true.
To close, not all of us in the world are fortunate to have the best to live in, but no one should
have to live in these conditions, especially if the rent is as much as our house payment. Our
home is far from the condition of the home at 1220 N. Boeing, Spokane, WA.
Respectfully,
