Bolivar Rd., which is located in a flood zone B. A flood zone B is a 500 year flood plain, with a moderate chance of flooding. The City understands that the septic tank is necessary until sewer is available in this area. The City's requirements for installation of the septic tank in a flood zone B are precautions are to be taken to prevent the backflow of any liquid into the house or other structure, by the installation of a backflow valve. Although the flood zone B is a moderate risk, the City is requiring the tank to have a waterproof seal. After the installation of sewer lines into the street and the home is hooked up to the County sewer system, the tank must be decommissioned and a certificate of decommission must be filed with the City for its records. Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions. Sincerely, Kathy McClung, Director, Community Development City of Spokane Valley 509-688-0030 kmcclung@spokanevalley.org CC: Address file
