The following items were noted during a walk through inspection of the above
residence following an interior fire. These items need to be incorporated into the
reconstruction of the residence to comply with current Building Code requirements.
1. Insulate 2" x 4" walls prior to new drywall with R-13 insulation. Attic insulation
must be R-38 or better.
2. All windows that are replaced need to meet current energy code requirements
with U -values of .35 or better.
3. Replaced bedroom windows must meet current egress requirements.
4. Smoke detectors shall be placed in each bedroom and on each level of the home
and be wired to the buildings electrical system.
5. All bathrooms require an exhaust fan of at least 50 cfm. Provide a 100 cfm
exhaust fan in the kitchen area.
6. The door between the house and the garage should be replaced with a solid core
door or metal door with self closing hinges.
7. All of the plumbing on the main floor needs to be retested for leaks before
drywall is installed.
8. Any gas piping in the house must also be retested for leaks.
