Subject: SVR Decant- Electrical Items A/B - new box and conduit for Snow Melt System on east
side of project
Shem—
KPFF has informally proposed a 5-way split to share costs on Electrical Items A& B,with total costs for this change not
exceeding$7,000.
The proposed share would be split as follows:
[ 4o%toconsLfl (a C i, 7000 = zoo
• 20%to S&L Underground
}—'2-0%-to-the-eleEtr-icalsub_contr_a_ctor Thornton and Sons
• 20%to the City of Spokane Valley(subject to internal City approval process)
It is my understanding that the electrical subcontractor,Thornton and Sons was in contact with our consultants and
seemed agreeable to this compromise.
Please confirm that this arrangement will work for S&L Underground and your sub-contractor Thornton and Sons. Once
I have your approval,we will work on formalizing this arrangement.
Thanks,

Please proceed to modify the bottom of the gate to get the 6-inch minimum clearance at all positions and locations at
the bottom of gate, with 12-inch minimum clearance at full closed position. We will process this as a change order and
are prepared to share in up to half of the$619+OH&markup cost with the Contractor for this modification. Since we
did not have the full 12-inch minimum clearance at closed position either,we expect that this requirement will be
remedied with the proposed modification.
Thanks,
Art Jenkins, PE,CSM

To modify the bottom of the fence is approximately$619.00, to remove the existing hinges(grind off) re-align and re-
weld the hinges and fabricate the attachment for the gate operator,approximately$892.00

OK.
I'm open to solution to make the 6"clearance when open. I'm OK with gate being higher than the fence. What is the
difference to modify the gate bottom versus the alignment point issue.

John Hayden<john@idahofence.com>wrote:
You can do that as well, but the top of the gate will not be in alignment with the top of the fence. Also,to do as per your
suggestion, the gate operator will need to be re-aligned adding additional cost.

I think a better solution was to adjust the hinge points on the gate like we talked on site. It would be less expensive to
lower the gate hinge points, thus raising the gate on the gate post.

Do we need to cut the bottom of the bottom of the gate on an angle or raise the entire thing 5 inches? I am thinking of
the top alinement on both ends.

Yes-it looks higher today when I opened it and wasn't dragging on the upper end asphalt. The gate guys must have
fine-tuned and adjusted the gate?
Let me get back to you on whether this will be acceptable or not.
