Committee membersapproved the December13,2006 meeting minutes, and welcomed Finance Director/Risk Manager Ken Thompson to the meeting. 2. Review and Discuss “Accident Prevention Program” a. CH2MHILL Program: The committee had several comments concerning the Accident Prevention Program fromCH2MHILL. Chris Bainbridge mentionedthatshe spoke with Public Works Director Neil Kersten, who said that this program is more for the public works department, and if we desire, they can omit the sections mentioning the City employeesafety committee. It was decided that committee members will review the CH2MHILL Program and send any comments to Chris Bainbridge by February 1; that she will collect the comments and the committee willdiscuss any recommended changes at the next meeting, and then forward those recommendations to Neil Kersten and then to the City’s insurance carrier WCIA. b. City’s Program: Chris Bainbridge will update and bring back the next draft for one further review prior to sending it to WCIA for their review. It was decided to wait until a little later to schedule employee safetyorientations. 3. Update: First Aid Kits: Contents/Responsibility; First Aid/CPR Classes Trish will check with the Fire Department concerning potential classes, including First Aid, CPR, and Fire Extinguisher safety. Timwill check with WSDOT on “flagging” safety details. Jennifer mentioned that Armstrong Enterprises also conducts training. It was decided that committee members should send safety training ideas to Chris Bainbridge for consolidation. 4. Personal Protective Equipment. Chris Berg said that different department field personnel have different Personal Protective Equipment needs; that he will research to determine what departments’ needs are, what is required, funding issues, and report back to this committee to discuss all aspects of acquiring PPE, after which we will send the list of equipment needs to WCIA for their recommendation to this committee. Update: Facility Security/Panic Protocol: Chris Berg mentioned the lack of facility security, lack of protocol for guests on our premises, and the need for somecontrols. He said he will talk with all the “counter” personnel and bring back some ideas and options for the next meeting. Chris also mentioned that Bing is working with Allied Security and that to wire the facility for such things as magnetic card control, the building is about 80% ready. Doorbells, decibels, sounds, and having a special, looped pre-recorded message over the intercom were all discussed as ways to informall employees of the immediate need for assistance.Ken said he is not convinced of the need for such security means, but severalother committee members voiced their disagreement. There was also discussion of making visitor passes and having the visitor protocol drafted and implemented, including the use of sign-in sheets, and having City employees escort the visitor to and fromtheirmeeting destination. 6. Other Items: Safety Calendar: Jennifer Cusick brought in a sample safety calendar, and committee members agreed this would be a gooditem to have included in our employee newsletter, included in our paycheck envelope, and/or placed on the safety bulletin boards. Evacuation Plans: Brian said he is working on drafting evaluation plans for City Hall, CenterPlace, and the Precinct building and will bring those to the next meeting.
