Committee members approved the January 17, 2007 meeting minutes. 2. Review and Discuss CH2M Hill’s Accident Prevention Program. Tim reported that he is still giving and receiving commentsconcerning this plan and that Public Works DirectorNeil Kersten is working with JimDingfieldfor clarification. Chair Chris Berg asked safety committeemembers to send their comments on this plan to Tim by March 1. 3. SpokaneValley Accident Prevention Program It is presumed that our own Accident Prevention Program will be a work in progress, and therefore, the committee reached consensus to approve it as is, knowing changes will be inevitable and likely regular. Committee members were asked tosendany further comments to Chris Bainbridge by the end of February, and she will post this information on the website March 1. 4. First Aid Kits Update: Chris Berg/Chris Bainbridge Zee Medicalmetwith Chris Berg, Chris Bainbridge, and Brian Moat, and toured City Hall and CenterPlace to ascertain safety needs, after which Zee Medical presented a quote, which was shared with committee members. From Zee Medical’s original quote of $13,163.50, Chris Bainbridge offered somesuggestions on how to pare that down to $1,668.75 as follows (please note the cabinets come fully stocked): Medium First Aid cabinet – CenterPlace Senior Lounge Medium First Aid cabinet – Parks and Recreation Receptionist Area Large First Aid cabinet – CenterPlace Kitchen First Aid Signs (3) – CenterPlace Infection Control Kit (1) – CenterPlace Kitchen Fire Extinguisher Signs (13) – CenterPlace Water-jel fire blanket (1) – CenterPlace Boiler Room Fire Extinguisher Signs (10) – ValleyPrecinct Fire Extinguisher Signs (7) – City Hall Large First Aid Cabinet – City Hall Kitchen Safety Committee Meeting Minutes2007, 02-14Page1of2 Medium First Aid Cabinet – City Hall Permit Center First Aid Signs (2) – CityHall & Permit Center Infection Control Kit (1) – City Hall It was noted that the above list does not include anyAEDs (Automated External Defibrillator), AED cabinet, or necessary medical directive, as the total price for those itemsis $2839, and Zee Medical suggested we purchase three. Chris Bainbridge said she checked with ICMA, who indicated they are not aware of any pending legislation which would require government entities to have an AEDon site by any specific year, and Chris said she checked on the Internet and also could not findanypending legislation. It wasmentioned that we still need a medical directive for the AEDdonated by the Rotary Club to the Seniors. Chris Bainbridge and Trish mentioned they believe there are grants available for AED purchase, and they will try to research that prior to the next meeting. The question came up of what exactly is included in the first aid cabinets, and Chris Bainbridge said she will contact Zee Medical to get that question answered. 5. Safety Training Comparisons: Chris Bainbridge Chris explained that there are many entities which offer safety training, and she distributed copies of a list showing comparisons of training course costs. Chris will send a memorandum to Senior Management (Dave and/or Nina) for comments/approval of the training and medical supplies. Tim mentioned that WSDOT has free CPR and First Aid classes and he will check on that, and will check to see if WSDOT may be able to help with purchasing or training concerning AEDs.Trish will contact Occupational Medicine Associates (OMA) regarding acquiring a medical directive for the AED we have. 6. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Chris Berg Chrismentioned he spoke with the building department employeesconcerns PPE needs; which prompted discussion on the need to find out what is required, and how we budget for those items, including maintenanceand replacement costs. It wasmentionedthat perhaps we need a clothing allowance policy for those affected staff. It was determined that this will be discussed more at the next meeting. 7. Facility Security Panic Protocol – Chris Berg Chris said that he has discussed this issue with Bing; and that he will get an update for the next meeting. Other considerations are visitor’spolicy, including sign-in, visitor’s pass; recommended and/ornecessary protocol. Chris will also check with Bing is determinethe feasibility of having three different “hot keys” on the telephone and coding and labelingfor different safety situations which could arise. Chris will get an update fromBing on this issue. 8. Evacuation Plans: Brian Moat Brian sharedhis evacuation plans for CenterPlace, and committee members all agreed he should proceed to post the plans in prominent places at CenterPlace.
