2. Minutes of March 18, 2009
: There was consensus to approve the minutes as presented.
3. Minutes of June 17, 2009
: There was consensus to approve the minutes as presented.
4. Committee Vacancy Discussion
: Chris explained that there is no required number of members to have on
the committee, but said we are required by the WACs to have employer-selected and employee-voted upon
members; and that the employee-voted upon members must be equal to or greater than those selected by the
employer. After discussion concerning the benefits of having a representative from Public Works, Chris said
she will check with Neil about such possibility and report back at the next meeting.
5. Review of Accident Prevention Program:
It was noted that Chris will make the changes as noted and see
if Mike Jackson would sign the document so we can let all employees know of its existence.
6. Safety Concerns
:
a. Incident review there were no employee incidents to review and Chris mentioned that the few incident
reports she received, were mostly as a result of seniors who stumbled while at the Senior Center.
b. Recommendations for Improvements there were none except everyone was asked to be cognizant of any
potential safety concerns and report those back to this committee.
7. Emergency Preparedness Kit for City Vehicles
: Michelle said she is working on a check list for the
vehicles, to include such things as camera, blanket, flashlight, flares, etc and she hopes to bring that list to the
next meeting.
8. Other Matters
: Other items discussed included having set training procedures for emergency, acquiring
some type of panic buttons, the need for a fire drill here and at CenterPlace; training for such topics as
Violence in the Workplace, CDL license/training, and scheduling a defensive driving course. John said he
will check with the Department of Transportation and/or WCIA for such possibilities. It was also
determined that this committee will meet quarterly rather than monthly, and the next meeting will be held
early November.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 12:00 p.m.
