Convene Meeting : Chair Michelle Rasmussen convened the meeting at approximately 11:00 a.m. 2. Minutes of September 16, 2009 : There was consensus to approve the minutes as presented. 3. Training Videos/Safe Driving Discussion : It was mentioned that Mike Jackson and John Whitehead will meet with a representative from WCIA regarding our draft Accident Prevention Plan and also plan to compare our plan with information from the Labor and Industries website with the hope that the plan can be signed within the next few weeks, but Chris expressed that she will no longer be holding her breath on this one. There was general discussion on overall safety plans and that our Risk Manager John Whitehead will be announcing an overall safety training plan in the near future. 4. Accident Packet for City Vehicles/Emergency Kits The availability of WCIA training videos were discussed with the idea to acquire some to view for possible training for all staff, including a defensive driving course, but that it would be more prudent to do such after the holidays, and perhaps February would be a good time. Michelle mentioned the emergency kits for the city vehicles, including cameras and emergency preparedness cameras indicating the cameras are for EMERGENCY/ACCIDENT purposes only. It was also mentioned that the finance department handles fleet management. 5. Medical Supply Boxes bids to supply : Chris said she will research whether this matter needs to be bid, or if we can continue with Zee Medical without using the bid or RFP process. 6. Safety Concerns, incident review and recommendations for improvements : Chris discussed the one incident regarding a minor accident at CenterPlace. For recommendations for improvements, it was suggested to include winter safety tips in the next employee newsletter and that perhaps Mary can handle that; and that Michelle will ask for another mat for the kitchen area as once people come in with snow on their feet, the water tends to stay on the floor presenting a potential slip hazard. 8. Other Matters : Other items discussed included the structure of this safety committee and whether another member is needed. Michelle and Chris will check and this will be discussed at the next meeting, including the need to ask current safety committee members if they desire to continue on the committee for next year. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 11:40 p.m. Safety Committee Meeting Minutes 11-18-09 Page 1 of 1
