I've been informed by the Spokane County Building
and Safety Department that you made an application on
March 24, 1980, for a building permit to install a wood
burning stove (permit #M-80-2630) . On a subsequent inspec-
tion the District Building Inspector, Mr. Ken Allread,
informed you of two deficiencies in the installation.
l.. The hearth is to extend 18 inches in front
and 12 inches to the sides with a 2/3ths
inch thickness.
2. The metal pipe for smoke exhaust is to run
past the fireplace damper.
I've been informed as of January 21, 1931, that
you have refused access to Mr. Allread to do a final inspec-
tion on the installation. Please be informed that pursuant
to the Uniform Building Code 1979 Addition as adapted by
Spokane County Building Code Ordinance Tit1P III, Section
305(b) UBC requires that any work for which a permit .is
necessary a final inspection must be macre. It also states
that it is your duty as the permitee to request th.e inspec-
tion and to provide access to and a means for proper
inspection of tine installation by the District Inspector.
Please be advised that a violation of the Uniform
Building Code provision is a misdemeanor, and upon convic-
tion a person shall be subject to a fine of not more than

$500.00 or by imprisonment in the County jail for not more
than 90 days.or by both fine and imprisonment.
Be further advised that yod:: have ten days from
the date of this letter to secure compliance with the Uni-
form Building Code provisions relating to the above property
or make other arrangements with the Spokane County Building
Codes Department relating to the alleged violation as out --
lined above. If you fail, to do so, this office will he
obligated to file a criminal complai:it against you at the
request of the Spokane County Building Conies Department.
