4.Accident Prevention Plan: No status at this time.
5.Safety Concerns:
a.Bldg Dept employee was in auto accident while driving out of Home Depot parking lot and turning
left on Fancher. An RV stopped in roadway because they wanted to turn into parking lot, blocking a
full view for our employee of the road to the left. A third driver in an SUV who was in lane behind
RV suddenly drove around the RV to continue going straight. Employee drove out into traffic, did
not see SUV coming up along RV, and collided with SUV. Employee was cited. Bldg Official Mary
Kate McGee reviewed the details of the accident and concluded employee did put himself and other
drivers at risk.
b.Mary May will look into compiling a reminder to employees regarding safe driving, to include if we
do go.
c.Partition wall by Lindsey Skinfill in the H.R. office should be lowered for safety and better customer
service for people who enter the H.R. office.
6.Employee Training: John provided updates on various courses:
a.. Select employees were not able to complete online course. Online interface

training in 2011 at CenterPlace.

c. Can receive training through Fire Dept. Just need to schedule it.
d. L&I may be able to provide.

f. In budget. Michelle will check with L&I for possibility of training. Training with
City of Spokane is not an option anymore.
g. Working on putting together a customized training.
h. Need to check with Aaron on this.
i. We should come up with a procedure, whether utilizing a panic
button, what to do if only one person at desk, etc. Michelle will check with L&I to see if they have a
plan/process. Perhaps our Precinct has some self-defense training for front reception areas.
