Hopefully they will be able to look at it before our next meeting. If we commit to a consultation, then we have to commit to any modifications they make. 4.Safety Concerns: a.During snow removal at Progress and Broadway, our plow was stopped and a citizen in a car is paying for the minor damage incurred. b.An older gentleman was attending a weekend event at CenterPlace. He suffered a heart attack and fell to the ground hitting his head. Paramedics were called and responded quickly, but the citizen passed away. c.Mary will look into compiling a reminder to employees regarding safe driving. She will check to see if L&I has an online video or DVD available. d.Mary mentioned that the restroom area at the Permit Center should be looked at for a possible slipping hazard. The utility sink area should be cleaned up better and we could obtain a mat for the floor to prevent slippage. The level of janitorial service should be addressed also for that particular area. 5.Employee Training: John informed us that H.R. purchased two DVDs and we are slowly building a training library. Updates were provided regarding various courses: a.. A class was held at CenterPlace on 12/14/10 and attended by 11 Parks and Recreation staff members, mostly permanent employees. Most of the non-permanent P&R employees will be attending the Saturday class on 1/8/11. John will schedule another training and hopefully several employees at city hall will attend. There is no requirement for all employees to be trained; however, at least one staff member of each department should have some type of training. b.. We want to ask L&I if they have an online video. c.. Michelle will check with Mike Jackson and Rick VanLeuven regarding front desk training. An officer provided training at the Permit Center when it opened and a fire evacuation plan was done for the Precinct. Community Resource Officer Greg Snyder had provided some of this training. d.. Community Development sent their employees to this training. We should touch base with them and make it available for other employees. Next meeting will be in March 2011. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:08 a.m.
