Department of Building & Safety
JAMES L. MANSON, DIRECTOR
RE: Permit Requirements - North 1920 Laura Road
Dear Mr. Neddo:
Our district inspector reports that a detached garage has been
constructed on your property located at the above-mentioned address,
Spokane County parcel number 07544-1706, and, in checking our
records, we are unable to locate a valid permit for this structure.
Should our records be in error, or should you have any information
that would otherwise be helpful in resolving this matter, please
contact us as soon as possible.
If a permit has not been obtained, Section 304(e) of the Uniform
Building Code requires that a double fee be charged whenever any
work for which a permit is required has commenced without first
obtaining the permit. The intent of this letter is to waive the
double fee, provided, you take the appropriate action to obtain a
permit within ten (10) days of the date of this letter.
A recheck of our files will be conducted immediately following the
time frame specified above. Your attention to the above will negate
the need for further action.
Again, please contact this office as soon as possible in order that
this matter may be resolved. Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00
p.m., Monday through Friday, feel free to contact us either in
person at the address below or call 456-3675.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Neddo:
On October 19, 1988, a sewage system survey was conducted by the District at
N. 1920 Laura Road. Through District records of the system, it appears that
the non -permitted garage Is in conflict with portions of the drainfield.
Section 1.04.180 of the Spokane County Rules and Regulations for Sewage
Disposal Systems states that all portions of the drainfield must be ten feet
away from buildings, structures, and property lines. The sections of
drainfield which are under the garage must be relocated to comply with said
regulations. Due to climatic conditions, we will extend the compliance date
to April 1, 1989. Failure to comply with the deadline will result in the
Spokane County Health District taking appropriate legal action.
A sewage system installation permit is required before any work can be done on
the system. You can apply for this permit at the Spokane County Health
District between 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The fee is $65.00.
Please call our office at 456-6040 if you have any questions. Thank you.
