ELECTRIC FENCE

JAMES L. MANSON, DIRECTOR
CERTIFIED -RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED
This letter is in regards to a continuing complaint concerning the electric
fence, located on your property in apparent violation of Section 4. 17-045
of the Spokane County Zoning Ordinance. Electric fences are prohibited in
the Agricultural Suburban Zone classification.
On May 26, 1983, you had informed me by telephone that there is an electric
fence, but not hooked up as the horses are trained to the wire fence.
Spokane County has taken the position that an electric fence shall mean
a wire designed and capable of carrying an electric current even though
said wire may not be energized.
In order to resolve this issue and to assure compliance with the zoning
ordinance, this office is requesting that you either replace the wire
fence, or render said wire fence inoperable and having no connection to
any power source.
Since you have been informed of the requirements prohibiting electric fences,
a period of 15 days, beginning with your receipt of this letter, should be
sufficient time in which to bring the fence into compliance. Upon rending
the fence inoperable, please contact this office so we can close this matter.
If you wish to discuss these findings, have any questions, or believe these
allegations to be unfounded, please feel free to contact me at 456-3675.

JAMES L. MANSON, DIRECTOR
CERTIFIED -RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED
ELECTRIC FENCE - FILE N0. 83-583
This letter is to confirm the conversation with your daugther on July 8,
1983.
This office was informed that the electric fence has been rendered
inoperable by removing.the wire connection from the fence to the power
source as we requested in our letter of June 22, 1983.
Further, we would like to remind you that under the provisions of the
Agricultural Suburban Zone, you may not keep over three horses with young
not over one year of age. Also, the housing and yard areas of such animals
cannot be any closer that 50 feet from any adjacent residence.
We trust that this matter is resolved and that compliance with county code
can be assured.
Sincere y
