Sewer Connection for Property at: 1405 N LONG RD
Dear Property Owner:
•
April 11, 2013
South Green Acres
Parcel #: 55182.1623
You are receiving this letter because our records indicate that sanitary sewer is available to your
property and one of the following circumstances exists: 1) Your property has not yet been connected to
the sewer or 2) Required work on your connection to the sewer has not been properly completed. If
your property has already been connected or you feel you have received this notice in error, please
contact us at 509-477-3604.
Please be advised that we have now established the one-year mandatory connection period for the South
Green Acres Sanitary Sewer Project. All connection must be completed within the one-year mandatory
connection period which will end on Thursday, May 01, 2014. A sewer connection permit must be
obtained from the Spokane County Division of Building and Planning Permit Center, 1026 West
Broadway Avenue, before any work is commenced on your connection.
We recommend that you obtain bids from a minimum of three contractors for the work. We also
recommend that you make arrangements for your connection with a contractor soon, as they typically
have a substantial backlog of work and there could be a long waiting period. Sewer connection
contractor's listings can be found in the yellow pages under "sewer Contractors & Cleaning" or "Septic
Tanks and System -Sewer Contractors".
All wastewater systems on your property must be connected to the sewer, including gray water systems
and basement laundry sinks. Basement floor drains that receive only clean water are not required to be
connected to the public sewer. In the case of commercial properties, grease traps must be kept in service
and maintained with the grease trap effluent discharged to the sewer.
In conjunction with the sewer connection, the septic tank must be properly abandoned by pumping out
the tank and then filling it with sand, pea gravel, or other approved material, in accordance with
Spokane Regional Health District regulations. Cesspools and drywells must also be disconnected and
properly abandoned.
If you have any questions regarding how to complete a sewer connection, stub as —built information,
inspection requirements or the regulations regarding abandoning existing on-site systems, please contact
our office at 509-477-3604.
