The following arc typical details for a residential garage. They may or may not represent the proposed project. If you arc using this detail as a
portion of your plan submittal, please complete the requested information where indicated. This completed detail, along with any additional
information, needs bo be submitted with your application and be on site at the time of inspection.
1. Diagonal wall bracing required on each
corner and every 25 feet of wall.
2. Walls within 3 feet of a property line or
within 6 feet of a dwelling must be 1
hour rated. 5/8" type "X" drywall or 1/
2" gypsum sheathing on interior and
exterior of wall. If less than 1000 sq. ft.,
may be on exterior side only. Openings
arc not permitted in these walls. Garages
over 3,000 sq. ft. require protection
when loser than 20 feet to the pmperty
line. Parapets may be required.
3. Doors entering a garage from the house
must be 1 3/8" solid core with a 20
minute tire rating (self-closing hinges
required).
4 Garages over 1,000 sq. ft. within 5 feet
to property line require a parapet.
