DEAR MR BENISH: f44,ot r-09Y;fif_35-
THIS NOTE AND ATTACHED SKETCH ARE SENT AS YOU ADVISED DURING MY
'HONE CALL TO YOU 8/17/93. THE SKETCH IS ROUGH BUT SHOULD DESCRIBE CURRENT
/ITUATION AT MANSFIELD SQ. MY FATHER, ED SMITH, IS RECOVERING FROM OPEN
lEART SURGERY SO I AM ATTEMPTING TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER. UNFORTUNATELY I
iESIDE IN SEATTLE MAKING ALL OUR C8RRESPONDANCE MORE DIFFICULT. I HOPE YOU
AN ASSIST ME. THE BLDGS IN QUESTION ARE HELD BY THE ED BET FAMILY TRUST AND
AM THE TRUSTEE IN CHARGE OF THIS MATTER.
THE ROOFS IN QUESTION I BELIEVE WERE ADDED BY MY FATHER OVER AND
}TTACHED TO THE EXISTING ROOFS. THE 3 TAB SYSTEM WAS MORE ECONOMICAL AND
.00ED BETTER THAN REROOFS WITH HOT TAR. I CAN WITH CERTAINTY STATE THAT
HEY IN NO WAY EXTEND PAST EXISTING BLDG FOOTPRINTS, AND DO NOT EXCEED ANY
iEIGHT RESTRICTIONS.
THE GARAGE DOORS IN QUESTION WERE INSTALLED WITHIN EXISTING OPENINGS
)ND LISTING SPANS WERE ACTUALLY REDUCED THEREBY. THE PROJECT WAS ORIGIMALLv
'ERmzTTED WITH GARAGES (1975), BUT IT HAS TAKEN MANY YEARS TO FINISH UP DUE
'O LOCAL FINANCIAL CONDITIONS.
IT LIKEWISE HAS TAKEN MANY YEARS TO PERFORM THE ROOF UPGRADES AND
,INCE NO REACTION WAS NOTED FROM SPOKANE COUNTY I GUESS DAD MUST HAVE
4SSUMED HE WAS NOT VIOLATING EITHER LIFE/SAFETY OR ZONING STATUTES— ALTHOUGH
AGREE YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN CONTACTED. DAD HAS MADE A DELIBERATE EFFORT TO
(ROVIDE AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR PEOPLE AND SOMETIMES HIS PROJECTS AND
'OCKETBOOK HAVE SUFFERED ACCORDINGLY.
I HOPE WE CAN RESOLVE THIS IN A SPEEDY WAY AND PLEASE CONTACT ME
)IRECTLY AS WE ARE CONCERNED FOR DAD`S HEALTH/STRESS LEVELS.(I SHOULD ADD
'HAI HE IS STILL V OVER THE WAY SPOKANE COUNTY TREATED HIM RE PERRINE
