2. Compliance Deadline(s):
You have fifteen (15) days from the receipt of this warning to correct the
violation(s) identified, or to enter into a voluntary compliance agreement with
the City. Failure to act within five days will necessitate the issuance of a
Notice and Order, as set forth in Spokane Valley Uniform Development Code
Section 17.100. If you choose to correct the violation, please contact the
Spokane Valley Building Division at (509) 688-0201 correction verification
inspection.
3. Consequences of Notice and Order:
The City's issuance of a Notice and Order is accompanied by monetary civil
penalties for Code violations developed for remedial purposes, and begin at
Five Hundred ($500.00) dollars per violation. Each violation constitutes a
separate fine.

No person, firm, or entity shall erect, contrive, cause, continue, maintain, or permit to
exist any public nuisances within the City, prohibited public nuisances include, but
are not limited to:

The state building code required by this chapter shall be enforced by the counties and
cities. Any county or city not having a building department shall contract with another
county, city, or inspection agency approved by the county or city for enforcement of the

Enforcement: The State Building Code Act requires that each local jurisdiction enforce
the State Building Code within its jurisdiction. Any jurisdiction can contract with
another jurisdiction or an inspection agency to provide the mandated enforcement

Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge. Alter, repair, move,
demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge,
alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing
system, the installation of which is regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to
be done, shall first make application to the building official and obtain the required
permit.
Section R113 Violations, Subsection R113.1 Unlawful Acts
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, alter, extend,
repair, move, remove, demolish or occupy any building, structure or equipment regulated
by this code, or cause same to be done, in conflict with or in violation of any of the
provision of this code.
