East 8507 Mansfield Avenue
Spokane County
Department of Building & Safety
JAMES L. MANSON, DIRECTOR
Dear Mr. Huguenin:
Laws and regulations in our society are, at times, difficult to
understand and fully comprehend. This is true of zoning ordinances,
which are laws intended to protect and govern the many different uses
of land in Spokane County. It is my responsibility, as the Code
Coordinator, when the situation arises, to help resolve conflicts
involving the Spokane County Zoning Ordinance.
This office has received reports regarding the keeping of sheep on
your property located at East 8507 Mansfield, Spokane County parcel
number 07544-0223. This property is zoned Agricultural.
A recent visual inspection by our field inspector concluded that no
violation exists provided that the animals maintain a distance of not
less than fifty (50) feet from any adjacent dwelling.
The intent of this letter is to advise you of zoning requirements for
the keeping of animals within the Agricultural Zone classification.
Section 4.04.030 of the County Zoning Ordinance states that "On any
property of whatever size the following uses are permitted except
that any building housing animalsor o lndy yard
or ru wtyashall
not be less than fifty (50) any dwelling
he
dwelling of the owner."
Should you have any questions regarding our code requirements,
please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely yours,
