On September 7, 1979 the Spokane County Planning Department received
a report that you had unlicensed and unoperative cars stored on your property
at E. 7714 Liberty Avenue, parcel 06543-4021 in Section 6, Township 25, Range
44 in Spokane County, Washington.
The Spokane County Zoning Ordinance prohibits the storing of unlicensed
and unoperative cars in the agricultural suburban zone which you are in. A
copy of the ordinance is enclosed for your information.
On September 26, 1979 I made a visual inspection of your property at the
above address and no one was home. I found the following old cars and parts:
1 car body with wheels and no license.
1 pickup cab.
1 wrecked engine..
1 Dodge pickup, no engine and no license.
1 old car engine with transmission attached.
1 Chevy pickup covered with a tarp, no license.
1 Superbee Dodge, no engine and no license.
1 Plymouth Road Runner, no engine and no license.
1 frame and an old pickup box and several miscellaneous parts.
These automobiles must be either stored inside a shed or repaired and made
operatable and have up to date license on them to comply with the ordinance of
Spokane County and the parts must be put under a shed or in a garage by December
1, 1979 to be in compliance with the Spokane County Zoning Ordinance.

laws intended to protect and govern the many different uses of land in
Spokane County. .It is my responsibility, as the Zoning Investigator, when
the situation arises, to help resolve conflicts involving the Spokane
County Zoning Ordinance.
A visual inspection has been conducted at your property, described on the
attached sheet, by our field inspector which indicates, we believe, that
your property is in violation of these ordinances. The attached data
sheet lists detailed information concerning this zoning violation.
We are of the opinion that since you have now been informed of the require-
ments of the Spokane County Zone Ordinance, a period of 30 days, beginning
with your receipt of this letter, should be sufficient time in which to
bring your'property into compliance. Do not hesitate to act upon this im-
portant matter, since a violation of the Spokane County Zoning Ordinance
is a misdemeanor and does carry a penalty. I am sure it is important to

It has been some time now since we last contacted you concerning the storage
of unlicensed and inoperable vehicles on your property, located at East 7714
Liberty, Spokane, Parcel Number 06543-4201.
A recent visual inspection conducted at your property by our field inspector
indicates, we believe, that you are continuing to store these vehicles on
your property.
As stated in our letter to you of February 26, 1980, storage in an Agricul-
tural Suburban Zone, in which you are located, is limited by Section 4.05.070
of the Spokane County Zoning Ordinance to, "...storage of materials used in
the connection with the operation of a household and activities associated
with the normal operation of a household except that property may be used
for the storage of materials used in the construction of the individual
buildings'on the property in the project. Recreational vehicles or boats
shall not be stored in the front yard of any lot used for residential pur-
poses."
We are of the opinion that a period of 14 days, beginning with your receipt
of this letter, should be a sufficient extension of time in which to bring
your property into compliance with the Spokane County Zoning Ordinance. If
these matters are not taken care of within the previously mentioned 14 days,
we will be unable to grant any further extensions of time and will have no
choice but to forward this case to the Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney's
Office for appropriate legal action. A violation of the Spokane County
Zoning Ordinance is a criminal offense and does carry a penalty of two
hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) or imprisoned in the County Jail for a
term of not exceeding ninety (90) days, for each offense. Each day that a
violation is permitted to exist shall constitute a seperate offense.

As Mr. Holman's letter indicated, the storage of inoperable/
unlicensed motor vehicles and other miscellaneous materials
stored on your property would not apply to this storage
provision. Thus, all the above materials being stored on
your property must be removed in order to bring your property
into compliance with the Spokane County Zoning Ordinance.
Please be advised that a violation of the Spokane County
Zoning Ordinance is a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
thereof, you shall be subject to a fine of not more than
$250.00 or by imprisonment in the County Jail for not more
than ninety days or by both fine and imprisonment.
De further advised that you have ten (10) days from the date
of this letter to secure compliance with the Spokane County
Zoning Ordinance provisions relating to the above property
or make other arrangements with Mr. Holman at the Spokane
County Building Codes Department. If_ you fail to do so,
this office will be obligated to file a criminal complaint
against you at the request of the Spokane County Building
Codes Department.
