I checked in with our inspectors to confirm that a "Final" inspection is what remains to complete approval of this
project.
Evidently, a free-standing wood stove was installed without permits or inspections which prevented a successful
final inspection from being completed.
Permit #09001823 was issued for the installation of the free-standing wood stove on 6/19/2009 (below) .. .

According to inspection staff, at the time of a successful "Final" inspection of the free-standing wood stove
(09001823), it would be possible to perform a "Final" inspection of the pole building (06002896) as well.
SVMC 24.40.030 B1 amended section R105 of the 2006 IRC to state that "All permits shall expire by limitation
and be declared void ... 3. Two years from the date of permit issuance" which means that the building permit
issued for construction of the pole building under Project# 06002896 has expired. But, since the owner / applicant
had in fact completed the work authorized under the expired permit, a new permit per R105.5.1 Completion of
work (as amended) is not required to be issued.
As a result, my recommendation is that the owner / applicant complete the installation of the free-standing wood
stove to meet minimum code requirements and then request a final inspection of that installation. At the time of a
successful approval of the wood -stove installation, a final inspection of the pole building will be able to be
performed by one of our building inspectors.
Once the final inspection of the pole building can be "Approved", PLUS will be updated, the structure will be
approved for use as a (U-1) residential garage and permit number 06002896 will be completed.
Please let us know if the owner / applicant will require any further assistance with scheduling their request for a
final inspection.
