Coffman Engineers, Inc. would like to thank the City of Spokane Valley for the opportunity to work
with you on the Sullivan Bridge project. As part of the final design effort, it became apparent that the
thickness and layers of the existing asphalt overlays on the bridge deck need to be determined to
size /detail the new expansion joint repair. As a result, Amendment No. 1 to the original contract dated
July 21, 2008 is required.
As discussed with you today, Coffman Engineers, Inc. will hire Budinger and Associates to complete a
total of two cores — one in each northbound lane — center of each lane. This will provide necessary
design depth information required to detail the expansion joint repairs as identified in Phase 1 work.
SCHEDULE UPDATE
Based upon our discussion today, the Phase 2 draft construction drawing(s), technical specifications
and pre -bid cost estimate will be completed by mid February 2009 for the City of Spokane Valley's
review.
ENGINEERING FEES
Coffman Engineers will provide the necessary work to complete Amendment No. 1 for a lump sum fee
of $1,850.
