Civil Engineering, Land Surveying & Land Planning October 10, 2013 John Johnson Development Inspector 11707 E. Sprague Ave., Suite 106 Spokane Valley, WA. 99206 Re: Roth Addition Phase 2 (SUB -01-10) Driveway Revisions Dear John: The builder has requested that one driveway be widened and one addition driveway be added, please see below for the description and recommendation for each. 5126 N. valor Rd. The iveway for Lot 3 Block 3 (5126 N. Avalon) was designed to be 28.5' wide on the approved ci 1 plans. At the time of construction, the contractor installed a 16' wide dipped driveway with e north edge of the driveway being 14' from the north property line. The builder has now requested to modify the width of the driveway to 24.5' by adding 8.5' to the north side of the existing 16' driveway. Since the drainage plans and drainage calculations where designed and approved with a 28.5' wide driveway and after verifying the appropriate drainage calculations it is my professional opinion that the additional driveway width and adjusted swale area is acceptable. I have attached the accepted lot sheet, which you have in your files, stating that a driveway up to 28.5' wide is acceptable. /91(32 -00/3 - co s Founded 1946 iimpson Engineers, Inc. 13169 E. Olympic Ave. - -1 - • - Block 2 (13169 E. Olympic) was designed to be 16' wide on the approved civil plans and has been installed that way. The builder has now requested to install an additional driveway to access Avalon at the northeast corner of the lot. The driveway would be placed 5' south of the north property line and will be 16' wide. See attached revised lot sheet. Civil Engineering, Land Surveying & Land Planning Per the approved drainage report "Bowstring -1" provides 554 ft3 of treatment volume. With adding an additional 16' wide driveway, Bowstring -1 will add 12.5 ft3 of required treatment while reducing the treatment volume by 47 ft3. Therefore, by installing an additional 16' wide driveway the treatment volume provided is equal to 507 ft3 and the treatment volume required is equal to 307 ft3, showing that the treatment volume provided is more than adequate to handle the additional driveway and swale reduction. This revised drainage calculation did not take into account that several driveways within the Bowstring -1 drainage area where designed and approved at 28.5' wide, and where actually constructed to 16' wide. It is my professional opinion that the additional driveway for Lot 5 Block 2 is acceptable. 2-0or-o1!)-4- Sincerely, Aaron Simpson, Consulting Engineer 909 N.
