I believe we are ready to go ahead with testimony. Would you procede ? Mr. Sharpe: My name is Wfllard Sharpe, and I have been asked by Mr. Presta to speak tor him here today in connection wYth his request tor a special permit. I kmvv we have been here a long time and I don't intend to belabor obvious facts and just h.i.t the main issues as I see them, but before I do that I should like to apologize to the members ot the Commission, and also the ladies and gentlemen who have been delayed because ot my inability to be here at 1:30. I was in a bankruptcy hcaring which I thought would take an hour and it took an hour and a halt. I hope I haven't inconvenienced anyone to seriously. There was some misunderstanding at the inception of this aqplication, through a misunderstanding, an inference apparently was drawn that Mr. Presta was asking tor some twenty-three acres of zoning tor a wrecking yard, when in fact it was his purpose to ask for some two or three acres. However, we have reconclled that situation. I have worked out a legal description which I have submitted to the Commission in the form of a letter which detines an area 400 feet on each side, or a square in other words, 40U feet on each slde, a square which would amount to about 3.6 acres more or less, which we have in mind, which lies in the upper northwest corner of this 80 acre section, less the right-of-way that Mr. & Mrs. Presta own. They have 24U end to end lined with the right-of-way. You would have a full 80 if it were not for this corner taKen out here by the railroad tor right-of-way which runs through. The spot which we have in mind, as I said, lies up in the northwest corner some -3- 75U feet down from the very northwest corner, and then is defined in the form of , . ~ a swuare, 400 feet on each side., being about 3.6 acres. The Presta family has lived on this I think Mr. Presta was born on this properi:y, as a matter ot iact, and a major part of it is good agricultural land. All the property whicii lies along the right-of-way down in here , back up you might say, just a matter of a few hundred feet of his west property line is v ery fine agricultural land. He has no plans to make any change on there. It is only this property that has formed the toothills ot the hills that run in baclc ot his home, upward perhaps for a distance of 100 to 150 feet,, in elevation, it is covered with scrub timber and rock that ot cours e he is concerned with. And then vveP-are only concerned with~a small part of that up in the corner. This land is not useable for agricultural purposes, it is hilly in nature, rocky, and it has no particular use. Mr. Presta has told me, I'm not a farmer, but he has told me that it couldn't be used tsa successfully tor grazing. And because of the peculiar location ot this, runs a d& runs a d saddle iight up in this corner. It provides an exceJlent spot, as I say of about 3 1/2 acres ef- that could be devoted to a use ot this type without materially aftecting any of the surrounding property. The area is behind his home, oh I would say, a distance of about four to five hundred teet. It is perhaps forfy or tifty feet higher in elevation and is into the hill proper, which constitutes a little saddle which is protected by trees. There is a heavy tree development, you might say, along frTat- masts or the edge ot this saddle in the hills which ot course~ hides the area bom his owm . ~ home proper and from any of the homes over in Chester Hills Addition. It is awfully hard verbably to describe the location because as I say it is peculiar and uniquely adaptable to ttnis Kind of u se . We have had several pictures taken, perhaps not in the best way, but at least demonstrate the location These tirst two shots of this pictures are the same, if I can hand one to Mr. Bienz and Mr. Meigs. This is a picture taken from the Dishman-Mica Road trom the nearest neighbor looking west, and it shows the Presta home. You will notice behind the Presta home there is a distance of several hundred feet, then the tree line begins and the slope ot the hill begins.
