Dear Mr. McEltish:
The Spokane County Building Codes Department has
requested the assistance of this office, as their statutory
legal counsel to enforce compliance with the Uniform Build-
ing Code provisions relating to your property located at
the above address. .
Our file reflects that you were informed of the
alleged violation in a letter, dated February 28 ,1980
from Mr. Arthur S. Erickson, Building Inspector of the
Spokane County Building Codes Department. Mr. Erickson' s
letter requested that you obtain an approved building
permit for your detached garage located at the above
address within 10 days of the date of that letter. As of
this date, our office has been informed that you have still
not obtained an approved building permit for the detached
garage.
Please be advised that a violation of the Uniform
Building Code provision is a misdemeanor, and upon convic-
tion thereof shall be subject to a fine of not more than
$500. 00 or by imprisonment in the County jail for not more
than 90 days or by both fine and imprisonment.
Be further advised that you have ten days from
the date of this letter to secure compliance with the Uni-
form Building Code provisions relating to the above property

Re: Detached garage located at E. 19017 Sprague Avenue.
Dear Sir:
Our district inspector reports that you are building a detached garage at the
above mentioned location without the required building permit.
Such work requires a permit, per Section 301 of the Uniform Building Code, as
adopted by Spokane County; therefore, you are advised to obtain the required permit
to make this work legal.
It should also be noted that Section 304(d) of this Code states: "Whenever
any work for which a permit is required by this Code has been commenced without
first obtaining said permit, a special investigation shall be made before a permit
will be issued for such work...the investigation fee shall be equal to the amount
of the permit fee required by this Code".
When applying for this permit, please be sure to bring this letter with you so
that we can attach it to the application and clear our files.
If you do have a permit, please contact us and tell us the permit number shown
in the top right hand corner and give us the date of application.
A re -inspection will be made in ten (10) working days from the date of this letter,
and non-compliance will require that this matter be referred to our statuatory legal
counsel for further action.
