FOUNDATION INSPECTION
Sub-slab radon requirement :
7 Where required , slab is poured over a 4" thick coarse gravel
base . A 6-mil poly soil gas retarder membrane is installed between
the gravel and slab . All tears , seams , and joints in membrane are
sealed . A radon vent pipe of at least 3" in diameter runs from
each separate gravel area to 12" above eaves .
Below grade walls :

The ventilation system has been checked for proper operation . If
designed for intermittent operation , the system is controlled
automatically by a time-of-day timer set to run for a minumum of
eight hours per day . If designed for continuous operation , the
system is directly wired to a dedicated circuit in the electrical
panel .
Make-up air :
A duct provides fresh air directly into the return air plenum of
the central forced air heating system . The duct is insulated to R4
if it runs through heated space . A motor-operated damper , located
within 36 inches of the air handler , prevents air from entering
the plenum when ventilation is not called for . A clock timer
operates the designated whole-house exhaust fan , turns on the HVAC
air handler , and opens the mechanical fresh air duct damper
whenever ventilation is needed .
Make-up air :
The outdoor intake duct is equipped with a damper that limits flow
to 165 .0 CFM under normal operating conditions .
Fireplace/Woodstove :
Combustion air is ducted directly into the firebox . Duct has a
cross sectional area of at least 6 square inches and a readily
accessible operable damper . Doors are installed and fit tightly .
