The following is the title and summary of Ordinance No. 16-012 passed by the Spokane Valley City Council
on the 3rd day of August, 2016:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON,
ADOPTING A SECOND SIX MONTH RENEWAL OF THE MORATORIUM ON MINING AND
MINERAL PRODUCT MANUFACTURING ORIGINALLY ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO
ORDINANCE NO. 15-013 AND RENEWED WITH MODIFICATIONS PURSUANT TO ORDINANCE
NO. 16-003,AND OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO.
Section 1 states that the City Council conducted a properly noticed hearing and adopted findings of fact
justifying a second six-month renewal of the moratorium on mining and/or related mining site operations;
Section 2 renews the moratorium; Section 3 established that the work plan continues and is part of the
renewal of the moratorium; Section 4 states that the moratorium duration shall continue for six months and
will expire, unless repealed, extended or modified, February 17, 2017; Section 5 addresses ratification;
Section 6 addresses severability; and Section 7 provides for an effective date.
