° DRAINAGE PLAtd
S.P. 728-91
ALVIN SHERRODD
PLAN
No drainage problems exisL in S.P. 728-91 at present.
T'he plat lies in a soils area which has moderate to high
permeablity rates and which has rapid infi.ltration rates. These
factors provide low potential run-oif rates from rainfall and/or
snow melt.
No runoif oi significant amounts enters the plat area. The
Spokane River lies next to and north of the plat. The existina
ground is more than 20 feet above the 100 year flood flow
elevation of Spokane River.
The drainage plan for this short plat slzall theretore
consist of installing such dralnage facilities as may be required
to catch the run-off from Montgomery Avenue and direct them to
grassed percolation area "208" swales. This work will be done
sometime in the future when Montgomery Avenue is reconstructed as
specified in the "Findings of Fact. Conclusions. and Decisions"
dated December 26, 1991.
BACKGROUND DATA
The plat lies next to the Sookane River at an elevation or
more than 50 feet higher than the river bed elevation. The 100
year flood flow elevation of Spokane River adiacent to the plat
is from 1972 feet to 1979 feet USGS mean seal level datum (see
panel 315 and 325 of 625. Spokane County Flood Insurance kate
Map). The ground elevation within the plat is in the range from
2013 feet to 2016 feet USGS mean sea level datum.
ThE soils in the area consist of GgA - Garrison gravelly
loam. 0 to 5% slope. These soils have a moderate to very rapid
rate of permeability and they have a rapid iniiltration rate.
These soils are in S.C.S. hydrologic soils group "D" (Refer to
sheet 67, Spokane County Soils Report, March 1968 edition. issued
by the United States Department-of Agriculture, Soil Conservation
Service). Soils in hydrologic soils group "D" provide low run-
offs.
Very little, if any. run-off may be expected on these soils
from rainfall and/or snow melt. Such run-off that may occur
from these sails and from associated roads. driveways, roofs and
other impermeable areas may readily be directed into drains which
flow into "drywells". "Drywells" work very satisfactorily in
Garrison gravelly loam soils ir, directinq the water into the sun
soil. Grassed percolatian area "208" swales may be deszgned to

DRAINAGE PLAN

PLAN
The Drainage Pian for S.P. 728-91. Alvin Sherradd
develapment shali consist vf providinq shallow surface channeis
draining into grassed percolation areas. "Drywells" will be
used to assist direct the runoff water into the sub svi1.
Specific layout of the drainage system will be performed when the
design of Mvntgomery Avenue is done as specified in the "Findings
of Fact, Conclusions and Decisions" dated December 26, 1991.

States Department of Agri cu I ture, Sa i 1 Gonservati rra Servi ce
Soils in hydrologic soils group "D" provide low run-offs.
Very little, if any, run-off rnay be expected on these soils
from rainfall and/vr snvw melt. Such run-off that may occur°
fram these soils and frorn assaciated raads, driveways, raofs and
other ampei^mseabie areas may readily be directed inte drains which

Garrison graVeliy Iaarn soils in directing the water into the sub
scail. Grassed gercalataan area "208" swales rnay be designed ta
callect the run-off fram Montgomery Avenue when the design fvr
Montgomery Avenue is finalized.
The togography in the plat area is relat7vely fYat witb
the prevailing slapes less than 1%. The general topography
slopes from the river bank tvwrards Montgamery Avenue (svuth)
and generally from the east tvwards the west. Arapid drop
of f exa st towards the Spvkane Raver north of the plat area.
With the e.cisting sai ls, na erosion hazard exist ta this steep
slape because there isn't any run-off from the pl,at towards
this steep bank area.
At present, no runoff into the plat from other outside areas
occurs except as ta}ces p T ace along Montgomery Avenue. When
NLantgamery Avenue as redesigned in accardance wi'th the "Findings
of Fact. Gonclusions and DeGisions" dated I3ecember 26, 1991, this
runoff rnust be addressed.

PLAN
The Drainage Plan for S.P. 728-91, Aluan Sherradd
development shall consist of providing shallaw surface channels
draining an'to grassed percalataon areas. "Drywel]s" wii1 be
used to assist direct the xunoff water into the sub soal.
Spec a f a c 1 ayout of the dra inage system wi 1 i be perf orrned when the
design 4f Mantgvmery Avenue is done as specifsed in the "Findings
caf Fact. Conclusions and Decisions°" dated December 26, 1991.
BACKGR4UND DATA

SQils in hydroiogic saiis group "°D" provide 1ow run-caffs.
Very i a tt 1 e, i f any, .run-af f may be expected on these soi, ks

other impermeable areas may reada ly be directed xnto drairas which
flow inta "drywells". "Drysaells°" work Very satisfactariYy in
Garrison gravelly loam soils an directing the water into the sub
soil. Grassed percolatican area "208" swa1es may be designed to
collect the run-off fram Montgornery Avenue when the design for
Mc,ntgamery Avenue is finaiized.
The topography zn the plat area is re}.atively fiat witb
the prevailing slopes less than 1%. The general topQgraphy
slopes f ram the r3ver ]hank toFrards Montgomery Avenue ( svuth )

DRAiNAGE PLAN
S.P. 728---91
ALW i N SHERROaD
PLAN
No drainage problems exxst an S.F. 728-91 at present.
'I'he plat l ies in asoi soils area which has maderate to high :
perrneablaty rates and ►ahxch has rapad infi, ltratiQn rates. 'I`hese ~
fac'kars provide low patential run--aff rates krorri rainfall and/or ,
snaw me1t.
No runof f af sagna f~cant amcaunts enters the p 1 at area. The
Spokane River lies next tr and north of the piat. The existanq
grounci S s more than 20 £eet above the 100 year flac?d f 1 ow

The drainage plan for this short plat shall therefmre
consist vt znstal lang such drainacte faci i ities as may be requirea •
to catch the run-csff from Mantgomery A,venue and direct them to
arassed perco 1at 7 on area "208" swa 1es . Th is work wi 1 1 be done
sometim,e in the future when Mantgorrsery AVenue is recanstrueted as
speGified in the "Findangs of Fact. Conclusions. and Decisions"

The soils in the area consist of GgA - Garrisr,n graveliy

These soils are in S.C.S. hydrologic soils graup "D" (Refer ta

Montgomery Avenue gs finalized.
The tapography in the pkat area ls relatively f1at with
the prevailing slopes less than 1%. The qenPral topographv
slopes from the raver bank toward1 Montgomery Avenue (south)
and generaliv from trse east towards the west. A rapad drop

the existing sails. nQ erosxon hazard exist to this steep s1ape
hecause there isn't any run-off from the plat towards thss steap
bank area.
At pres¢nt. no runoff into the plat from otlier outside areas
accurs except as takes place alona Montgomery Auenue. When
Montgomery Avenue 3s redesxgned in accordance with the "Findinqs
of Fact. Conclusions and Uecisaons" dated December 26. 1991, this
runoff must be addressed.
