The purpose of this tet- is to let you kr.ow that adding 2x4's over the existing 2x8 roof joists
will be ok given the following criteria s sal!sficd
• Existing roof jots are spacer at 16"n.r,.and span a maximum of 13'-On.
• Roof pitch is 1.25; 12.
• M exsting roofing,sheathing.and insulation.will be demolished.
• Add 2x4 DF-L #2 or better (iong leg vertical) continuously over existing roof joists.
Do not splice thc 7i7.4 members. Finished insulation depth spark.=•t1'.".
• Attach the 2x4's to the existing 2x8's with Simpson LTP4 plates at 24" o.c.
staggered at each side. instal?the LIN with the long side parallel to the joist,and
MI all holes with the Simpson 3d x,' W nails, Install per mfr.specifications.
• Install sold t)IOCting over the exterior bearing wail, between each roof joist Install
blocking at the ridge bearing line if the roof joists extend over the support., V-notch
the blocking as necessary for proper venting of the roof syslerr.
• Instail 518-Apia rated sheathing over the rerw framing system,and fasten as follows!
