The following is the title and summary of Ordinance No. 16-014 passed by the Spokane Valley City Council
on the 25th day of October, 2016: •
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SPOKANE VALLEY MUNICIPAL CODE 8.25.020, RELATING TO AGGRESSIVE
SOLICITATION, AND OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO.
Section 1 states that the purpose of this Ordinance is to improve the health,safety,and welfare of the citizens
and create a remedy suited to address aggressive solicitation in public places. Section 2 amends Spokane
Valley Municipal Code (SVMC) 8.25.020 to substitute the term "solicitation" in place of the term
"begging" and to provide a definition for aggressive solicitation and solicit. Section 3 notes that all other
provisions of chapter 8.25 SVMC not specifically referenced shall remain in full force and effect. Section
4 addresses severability, and Section 5 provides for an effective date.
