4 begin installation and erection before final grading is
5 completed, unless otherwise permitted.
6 Apply fabric to outside of framework. .
7 Excavation: Drill or hand-excavate (using . post-hole digger)

12 not less than 4 times largest cross-section of post .
13 Unless otherwise indicated, excavate hole depths
14 approximately 3 inches lower than post bottom, with bottom
15 - of posts set not less than 36 inches below finish grade
16 surface.
17 Setting Posts: Center and align posts in holes 3 inches above
18 bottom of excavation. Space maximum 10 feet o . c. , unless
19 otherwise indicated.
20 Protect portion of 'posts above ground from concrete
21 splatter . Place concrete around posts and vibrate or tamp
22 for consolidation. Check each post for vertical and top
23 alignment, and hold in position during placement • and
24 finishing operations.
25 Hold concrete footing below grade as .required to
26 accommodate the concrete mowing strip specified in
27 Section 02520 Concrete Curbs and Walls.
28 Top Rails: Run rail continuously through line post caps, bending
29 to radius for curved runs and at other posts terminating into

1 Fabric: Leave approximately 2 inches between finish grade and
2 bottom selvage unless otherwise indicated. Pull fabric taut and
3 tie to posts, rails, and tension wires. Install fabric on
4 security side of fence, and anchor to framework so that fabric
5 remains in tension after pulling force is released.
6 Tension or Stretcher Bars: Thread through or• clamp to fabric 4
7 inches o. c . , and secure to end, corner, pull, and gate posts with
8 tension bands spaced not over 15 inches o. c.
9 Tie Wires: Use U-shaped wire of proper length to secure fabric

11 turns. Bend ends of wire to minimize hazard to persons or
12 clothing.
13 Maximum Spacing: Tie fabric to line posts 12 inches o. c .
14 and to rails and braces 24 inches o.c.
•
15 Fasteners : Install nuts for tension bands and hardware bolts on
16 side of fence opposite fabric side. Peen ends of bolts or score
17 threads to prevent removal of nuts .
18 Gates: Install gates plumb, level, and secure for full opening

c. Tom Fox asked about a credit for the fuel oil not refilled in the new tanks, as the new tanks are
smaller than the existing ones. Picken will contact Staley Oil.
•
d. Picken indicated the Specifications address what is to be done if the soil surrounding the fuel
tanks is contaminated. The question was asked regarding liability if the fuel oil company spills
oil while draining the tank. This should be the responsibility of the fuel oil company.
•
