Gentlemen:
Our initial review of subject proposal indicates that the total design
fiow will exceed 3500 gallons per day on the basis of following design
criteria:
200 gallons per day for each of ten - one bedroom apartments
equals 2000 gallons. Two - two bedroam apartments equals
300 gallons per day each or 600 ga1]ons total for a total
pro3ected flow of 2600 gallons. Tank capacity is based on
1.5 times projected flow or 3900 gallons which then becomes
the des f gn f 1 ow.
Please address all your questions relatingto system design to George
Schlender or Dan Sander, Department of Social and Health Services at
West 924 Sinto, Spokane, Washington, Phone - 456-3115.
.
At a minimum, your revised plans and specifications will need to address
the following:
1. In additlon to the required 722 feet of drainfield, another
50% of the original drainfie1d requirement of 361 feet of
drainfield sha11 be installed pursuant to the Department of ~
Social and Health Service regulations for larger on-site
systems.
2. There shall be 100% replacement area for the original 722 lineal
feet of drainfield.
3. The drainfield system sha11 be dosed via a pump system at a dosing
rate equal to 'k of the projected daily flow volume.

4. A dry sewer collector system shall be installed according to the
requirements of the Spokane County Utilities Department.
5. Surface access lids sha11 be installed on all septic tank
compartments.
6. Orainfields sha11 be designed in a manner to provide equal
distribution via a distrfbution box; wherein, each outlet
serves an equivalent amount of dralnfield not to exceed 300
feet on one outlet.
7. Final plans and specificatfons shall identify location of all
sub-grade utilittes such as gas, water, electrical, and phone.
Additionally, the grass percolation surface water drainage from
the parking lots shall not be located closer than ten feet to
the sanitary drainfield system which is to be in an area not
sub3ect to any vehicular traffic.
8. There shall be a spectfied maintenance program including an entity
responsible for the biannual inspection and/or pumping of the
on-site septic tanks. The maintenance program sha11 include
weekly elapsed time, recordfings of pcanp operatfon, and pressure
readings.
9. An agreement shall be filed at the County auditors office obligating
the property to participate without protest in a sewer ULIO as a
part of the Spokane Ualley Sewer project.
