ATTN: Mr. Gary Nelson, P.E.
Gentlemen:
Enclosed is the Dishman Paint and Body Expension drainage plan and calculations
for the on-sitegrass percolation areas. Procedures used are as outLned m the
"Guidelines for Stormwater Management" published by Spokane Countq Engineers
with corrections as of 4-16-86.
~ Our drainage plan is for ell planned current and future development. Current glans
for this hase is the 35 foot buildin e ansion to the East, 2b foot concrete paand
overhan awnin to the West, siteg►ra~ding, pavement to the West arking lot and
Placement of a concrete drive along the South edge of the existing bulding.
Following your review, I would be happy to answer any further questions you may
have regardi.ng this report.
Sincerely,

li'or Dfshman Painand Fzpansion
Project Deecrfptfon:
The Dishman Paint and Body F~xpansion consists of current planned
extension of the existing building by 35 feet to the Eest, with 8 25 foot
concrete Fapment d with overhang awning to the West, site grato accommodate
site deveand dra~'nage, pav~'ng the West parlnng lot and placement of
a concrete driveway to the South of the existing building. Future
development calls for six work sheds along the South of the property and
pavement of the existing gravel lot on the East end of the property.
Site drainage is planned by sheet flow to be deposited within two 208
drainage swales in compliance with County requiremeats. The 208 swales are
planned for the Southwest corner and Eastern border of the site, as indicated
on the enclosed plan. Future roofing is planned to be non-asphaltic, and has
not been included for 208 sizi.ng. Roofing for the new office is undetermined
at this time and 208 sizing was performed by neglecting the office area and
0g the entire surface area es pavi.ng.
Soils:
In accordsnce with "Soil SurveyS,pokane County, Washington. 1968" the soil
is identified and categorized as:
GgA - Garrison gravelly loam, classified as gravelly, medium textures,
somewhat excessively drained soils formed 'in gravelly glacial deposits.
This soil is Type "B" as classified in the "Guidelines for Stormwater
Management".
ToR,oVa
phic Data:
The existing site siopes gently towards the Northeast with about 5 feet
differential elevation m approximately 270 feet (2%). Surroundmg terrain is
typically level and ar to that encountered within the Spokane Valley.
Demog_raphic Dats:
The site is located in a light to moderate commercial and industrial area
Rainfall Data:
Data used is in accordance with Figure 2, p -3 of the "Guidelines for
ine
ers. A 10 year return
Stornawater Management", by Spokane County%119
frequency event is used since the basins are contained within the site.
Methode of Rnnoff Control:
Runoff control of the new development is by overland flow into new grassed
percolation areas with overflow mto drywells. Runoff for Basin "A" will be
collected in a grated channel draun and Basin "B" will flow directly into the 208
swale.
Method8 of Dfsposal:
Disposal will be b~y single depth drywells. They shall be Spokane County
Standard Type "A' , as called out on the plans with standard grates. Inlet
capacity calculations are shown on sheet 8.
Peak Flow* Volume* and Dieposal Calculation:
a. Hydrology Computations:
The grassed percolation "208" areas were sized to accommodate
1/2-inch of runoff from all required surfaces within the site. The
impervious surfaces accounted for included parlang arees and proposed
paved surfaces, and the existing structure's roof.
The site was divided into two basins, "A" and "B". Drywells were sized
to handle the total runoff flow in their respective basins. The
Bowstring method was used to analyze the runoff in determining
_ numbers and size of drywells. See calculations on sheets 4 through 7.
b. Inlet Capacities:
A Spokane County Standard grate will be used on all drywells. Inlet
cap acities are calculated to be 1.6 CFS for a flow depth of .2 feet. See
calculations on sheet 8.
Manufacturer specifications and inlet rates for the grated channel drai.n
are presented within Attachment "C". As noted on the plans, we are
allowing a pre-approved equal to thi.s grated drain.
c. Detention/Retention Storage Capacities:
Grass percolation areas were calculated to hold the first 1/2-inch of
runoff generated by the reqired Zgtlylaorgser erviusurfaces within the site
linuts. The area provided will be than required.
Listed below are basins together with the swale volume required and
