JOHNSON SERVICE STATIOr1 PERMIT
Mr. Hawle : R. L. Johnson made an applicot4on for a special permit to
~
construct and maintsin a combination service station and electric shop in
Veradale, on the south side of Sprague Avenue between Sullivan and Conklin
Streets. This site is in an established Agricultura:l Zone. The public
hearing on this appiication has been set for this date, and the legally
required posting of notices and advertising have been e►ccomplished. Post
cards were mailed to 21 owners of adjoining property, advising them of the
time and place of the hearing. Mr. Johnson, in his appliaation for a per-
mit, states that the building will be 30 by 40, and constructed of con-
crete blocks, at a cost of approximately $3,000. The following letter of
protest has been received from S. Russell Allen of Veradale. (Mr. Hawley
read the letter.) Mr. Charles Freese, F. H. A. representative, phoned
tha.t he he.d looked over the sita and that it was satisfactory to his agen-
cy. Mr. Johnson is present to make his presentation.
• Mr. Meenaoh: How much ground do you have?
Mr. Johnson: 2,.-~ acrPS, with a 160 foot frontage. It will be approxi-
ma.te~y in the center of the property, a little to the east. I believe
this ought to be allowed. There are already a. number of businesses in
that section across the street is a furnace repair shop, and there is
a plumbing shop near there. It looks to mQ like it is going up as a bus-
iness district.
Mr. Meene►ch: Is there anyone present who wants to be heard on this appli-
cat ion 7
b4r. Fosseen: I move that the pe rmit be granted.
: T& motion, made by t+ir. Fosseen and seconded by Mr. Rohwer, was
carried unanimously.
Mr. HQwle y: I will send you the permit and the amount of money to be re-
turned.
Mr. Johnson : Thank you, gentlemen. I can go ahead with my p lans ?
Pr. Rawieyc Yes, it has been granted.
PALMF;R-HUMPHREY LANDING FIFLD
Mr. Hawley: The public hearing on the application of Messrs. Palmer end
Htunphrey for a special permit to establish a commercial l.anding field a-
, bout one mile north of Dartford was, upon a dul,y made Qnd carried motion
e.t the last meeting of the Commission, referred to the Aviation Advisory
Bvetrd for investigation and reoommendation. The Advisory Boe.rd submitted
the following :
"We, the Aviation Advisory Hoard of the County Planning Com-
. mission, have inspected the site of the proposed landing field in
the Yl2 of tho S'VTV' of Section 32, Tawnship 27 rJorth, Range 43 E.W.
- 1'd.0 Spokane County, WQShington, and find that the proposed field
is located so that it will not be too close to any existing field
to create a hazard, e:nd that the site itself, if fully developed,
is suitable £or the type of landing field groposed, and find no
reQSOn rvhy it would be Q hazard to aerial nevigation.
"We do find that the field is not well provided with an ac-
cess road, and will probably need considerable improvement to
make it accessible to the public.
'Vo therefore find, fraQn the standpoint o£ aviation, no rea-
son why the permit should not be granted.
"We also recom.mend that the Planning Comr.iission be asked to
provide for e study of possible landing field sites in the county
so that it will be possible for individuels who he.ve the intent of
