The following is the title and summary of Ordinance No. 17-003 passed by the Spokane Valley City Council.
on the 7th day of February, 2017:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTION 2.40.010 OF THE SPOKANE VALLEY MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO
OATH OF OFFICE FOR INCOMING COUNCILMEMBERS AND SPECIFIC STAFF MEMBERS,AND
OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO.
Section 1 amends SVMC 2.40.010 to include that Councilmembers, as well as certain specified members
of city staff,will each take the oath of office before entering upon the performance of their duties; and the
oath of office verbiage was amended to include reference to the Constitution of the United States and the
State of Washington. Section 2 deals with severability. Section 3 states that Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five days after date of publication of this Ordinance or a summary thereof in the official
newspaper of the City.
