Dear Mr. Guerry,
Per our telephone conversation, I am preparing this letter to explain why the project has
been extended beyond the normal time frame.
Due to the topographical issues, there has been extensive excavation and additional
engineering required on the above site. Included are the engineering reports from All
West. Both recommendations have been followed and completed. This is also an owner-
builder project, which has taken longer than a project headed by a seasoned general
contractor. Both owners (Greg Norris and myself) are employed at full-time positions.
We have been completing some of the finish work in our off-time.
To my knowledge, all of the original safety issues have been corrected and we would like
to wrap up the project. We will call the beginning of next week for a final inspection.

J.R. Bonnett Engineering was retained by you to analyze a proposed notched floor beam for the above-
mentioned residence. A limited analysis was performed to determine if the existing notched beam is
adequate.
Based on a 24F-V4 grade,a 5 1/8 x 12 glu-lam beam with a 3 inch notch for a span of 4 feet 3 inches at
the stairway is adequate. The attached detail and plan was prepared to show the 3 inch notch on the
