Re: Non Conforming Use (Accessory Dwelling Unit.)
Spoke with Sandra Marra today regarding the status of her accessory dwelling unit. After
speaking with Greg McCormick (Interim Community Development Director) and Mary Kate
Martin (Building Official) I informed Ms. Marra that the kitchen in her accessory building would
have to be removed based on the fact that I was unable to locate any permits for its original
placement and its status as a non conforming use. We discussed the possibility of subdividing
the property but I question the viability of that option due to problems with fire department
access. Additionally, I explained that if a demolition permit was not obtained, and final
inspection of the kitchen removal completed, the building would likely be posted "Do Not
Occupy" and that code violations included fines against the property. She indicated that she
would be contacting her lawyer.
