Type -"B" drywells will be assumed to handle 15,000 SF of surface runoff. Where this relationship is exceeded the Bowstring method of runoff calculation will be used to justify the drywell selection. • Drainage Structures - Pipes, ditches, and other drainage conveyance structure sizes and geometry will be justified with calculations. Runoff is calculated by use of the Rational Method. Other information provided with this report will provide the following: • Grades - Contours and spot elevations are provided on attached drawings. One percent minimum slopes are used to convey runoff across paved surfaces where concrete curb and gutter are not utilized. • Pavement - Attached drawings indicate where all travel surfaces are to be paved unless a paving waiver has been granted. • Swale Cross-Sections - Typical cross sections of swales are detailed on attached plans. Details indicate sodded side slopes not steeper than 2:1 for up to a maximum of 12 inches depth. Swales which are greater than 12" in depth will have 3:1 side slopes. The tops of swales are a m;nimum of 2" above the rim elevation of drywells to provide freeboard for stormwater. • Elevations - Both bottom of swale elevations and drywell rim elevations are indicated on attached drawings. . , C alculations have been made in accordance with the Spokane County "Guidelines for Stormwater Management". EXISTING FACILITIES The proposed site is a 10.88 acre site. The site fronts Sprague Avenue on the north and Evergreen Road on the west. Currently all runoff from the site flows to low points on and off of the site. Presently there are no stormwater treatment and disposal facilities on the site. EROP.Q_$EIa FACILITIE~ The proposed facilities are parking facilities, a 55945 SF Safeway building, two future anchor stores of 18004 SF and 25000 SF, a future retail shop of 4200 SF, and future store pad of 7500 SF. BuildinLy Runoff The Safeway building, the future Anchor #1 building will be tightlined d.irectly to a bank of six Type II drywells at the rear of the building. All mechanical equipment on the roof of the building will be oil free or sealed as indicated in the specifications provided by the architect. Also roofs will be non-asphaltic as per architectural roof plan. The six drywells are interconnected by an 8 inch pipe to equalize flow between them. The future Anchor #2 and Retail Shops buildings will be tightlined to two Type "B" drywells. Pad "A" will be tightlined to one Type "B" drywell. All calculations for d.rywell requirements are shown in the Appendix. Parkina Lot Runoff The proposed parking lot is divided into four drainage areas, 1, 2, 4 and 5. Area 3 was removed after the 6-7-94 Revisions. Area 1 sheet drains to the west and north to a 1760 SF grassy swale. Area 2 sheet drains to the north to a 3810 SF grassy swale west of the center approach and a 9505 SF grassy swale on the east. Area 3 was eliminated and is part of Area 5. Area 4 and 5 drain to the southern corners of the site to a 6275 SF and 3720 SF swale respectively. The area provlded for uzfiltration uz each of these swales is designed to accom.modate 1/2 inch of runoff draining from the im.pervious surfaces, in a swale of a si.x inch depth. Runoff from all of the areas enter the swales through curb cuts. Curb cuts are designed to handle ali peak flows from the various areas draining through them into the swales. Calculations are shown in the appendix verifyirig that the largest area which drains through a curb cut will drain through the 5 foot wide at the top and 3 foot wide at the base curb cut. Area 2 West has the largest area draining through a single curb cut. A portion o€ Area 5 drains through a 2 foot wide channel as shown in the detail. Approximately.33 acres drain.s through this channei. They are both type "B". 2. I have attached a copy of the bowstring calculations completed for the roof runoff to the two type "B" drywells. Note the assumption of storage in the drywells. Also note the spreadsheet demonstrating the runoff of 15,000 sq. ft. of surface to each drywell. The only storage required is only 14 cf. less than that required for the roof of Office Depot. 3.
