The building design is based on 40 PSF roof live (snow) load, 110 MPH wind speed, Exposure B, Seismic Design Category C and 2,000 PSF allowable soil bearing pressure per the 2012 IBC. The building has 14'/13'9"/11'9"/8'5 3/"/12' post spacing and 4:12 roof pitch roof trusses. I checked this building for the diaphragm design characteristics used in the standard post frame building design. The front endwall has no openings. There is sufficient steel sheeting on this endwall to transfer lateral loads on the sidewall and roof to the base of the building. The rear endwall has no openings. There is sufficient steel siding on this endwall to transfer lateral Toads on the roof and wall to the base of the building. The left sidewall has two 12' x 14' overhead doors, a 10' x 10' overhead door and a 3'pass door. The right sidewall has no openings. Sidewall openings do not affect the lateral load resistance of the building. The standard plans do not address the 14' and 13'9" bays. I have designed this building and detail the structural elements below: • Roof trusses — Use two 40' span roof trusses at each interior truss crossing and single gable end trusses. Trusses shall be designed and certified by the truss manufacturer. Rest the trusses on 2" x 6" x 18" bolting blocks. Place one 3/4' diameter machine bolt and four 16d nails through the truss top chords. Place four 3/4" diameter machine bolts through the bolting block with eight 16 d nails. • Roof purlins — Use 2" x 8" DF -L #2 purlins at 24" o. c. Connect the purlins to the trusses with standard joist hangers. • Sidewall girts — Use 2" x 6" DF -L #2 flat girts at 24" o. c. with 2" x 4" backers at 48" o. c. • Sidewall posts — Use 6" x 10" Hem -fir #2 treated posts embedded in 36" diameter x 3'0" deep concrete footings. • Corner posts — Use 6" x 8" Hem -Fir #2 treated posts embedded in 26" diameter x 3'0" deep concrete footings. • Endwall posts — Use 6" x 8" Hem -fir #2 treated posts embedded in 24" diameter x 3'0" deep concrete footings. • Framing and connections — Use the standard 40 PSF post frame building plans for all framing and connections with the above exceptions. Please contact me if you have any additional questions about the design of this building. ncerel ,C niel arhbeke P.E.
