The following is the title and summary of Ordinance No. 17-010 passed by the Spokane Valley City Council
on the 3`d day of October,2017:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY, SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON,
ADOPTING CHAPTER 7.45 OF THE SPOKANE VALLEY MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO
SNOW AND ICE ON PUBLIC SIDEWALKS,AMENDING SPOKANE VALLEY MUNICIPAL CODE
7.05.040(C)(3),AND OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO.
Section 1 amends SVMC 7.05.040 to remove as a prohibited nuisance,snow or ice not being removed from
a public sidewalk within a reasonable time. Section 2 adopts a new chapter 7.45 concerning snow and ice
on sidewalks,to set out the purpose and authority,to include definitions and terms used within the chapter,
to explain the duty to remove snow and ice from sidewalks; and to explain amnesty periods, improper
removal,penalties,defense for violation,and the educational program. Section 3 explains severability,and
Section 4 provides for an effective date.
