CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at approximately
10:00 a.m. by Building and Safety's Code Compliance Coordinator,
Tom Davis, with the following in attendance:

APPLICANTS:
School District Number 81, North 200 Bernard Street, Owner

SCOPE/PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
I. General Overview - The applicant is proposing the
construction of an addition to the Instructional Medial Center,
the addition will consist of approximately 6,400 square feet.
The existing structure is used for delivery of new and used
books, with a portion of the structure used by KSPS for storage
and repair of televisions. The new building is primarily for
extra space.
The addition is a pre-manufactured, pre-engineered, fully
insulated building, with metal siding and roof. The storage area
will not be heated. The current structure and new addition will
be connected by a breeze way. A loading dock will also be
provided at one end of the addition for deliveries.
II. Construction Schedule - The applicant would like to begin
construction this year with occupancy the end of January and
final completion by the end of May, 1988. •
SUMMARY OF DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: .
I. Planning Department (456-2205) A. Discussion/Requirements
1. It was noted that the existing building was used
as school many years ago.

2._ The setbacks and parking are adequate. B. Permit Release Requirements
l. The Planning.Department has signed off the permit.
II. Engineering (456-3600) .
A. Discussion/Requirements
l. A copy of comments were given to the applicant and
Building and Safety by Bob McCann.
2. A 208 drainage plan check print was given to the
applicant by Bob McCann.
3. Your contact person at the Engineer's Office is-
Gary Nelson.
B. Permit Release Requirements
l. A complete drainage plan including calculations is
required to be submitted for review and approval prior
to release of the building permit by the Engineer's
Of f ice .
III. Health District (456-6040)
A. Discussion/Requirements
l. It was stated the applicant is connected to a
private sewer owned by the applicant/owner. The
proposed project is using public water.
B. Permit Release Requirements
1. The Health District signed off the permit.
IV. Utilities Department (456-3604)
A. Discussion/Requirements
l. The Utilities Department was not present.
However,.comments were submitted prior to the meeting.
2. It was noted that the project is located-within
the City of Spokane Future Sewer Service Area. The'
applicant-should contact the city for recommendations.

Ir V. BuilcEing and Safety ( 456-3675 )
A. Discussion/Requirements
1. Ken Jeffrey of Building and Safety introduced Paul
Chase of Fire District No. 1.
2. The fire flow for the project was calculated at
' 2,500 gallons per minute. Alternatives are available
to decrease the fire flow requirement which will be
resolved at a later date.
3. A plan review letter was given to the applicant
stating comments/requirements. .
B. Permit Release Requirements
1. An area separation wall is required to separate
the two structures.
2. All comments/requirements in the plan review
letter are to be satisfied either, by addendum and/or
revisions to the plans prior to the sign off by
Building and Safety.
3. A Critical Materials list is required to be completed and returned to Building and Safety for
review and approval.
VI. Fire District (924-1700)
A. Discussion/Requirements
1. It was noted that the project is within the
Carnhope Water District.
2. It was stated that the existing hydrant does not
provide adequate fire flow. Several possibilities are
available to correct the fire flow problem.
3. An additional fire hydrant will be required to
meet fire flow requirements.
- 4. The applicant should contact Mr. Jim Orvas of the
Carnhope Water District to discuss possible solutions
. to the fire f low problem. B. Permit Release Requirements
l. Satisfactory arrangements will need to be made to
ensure adequate f ire f low.

The applicant acknowledged that all comments/requirements were
. understood and had no further questions at this time regarding
permit requirements. - CORRECTIONS:
To minutes or changes f rom what appears in the minutes, we should
be notified within one day of your receipt of these minutes.
To plans as required by any or all-of the above-listed
departments shall be submitted in sets of 7 to Building and
Safety who will then distribu'te accordingly to each department.
ADJO : There being no further business, Tom Davis thanked
the applicant and the departments for their participation and
reminded all that he should be contacted if there any unforeseen
problems which may arise.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 10:20 a.m.
