Enclosed is another copy of the law which is referenced above which was first sent to you with our
letter of September 8, 1995. All of this applies to your property. Those things which appeared unclear
to you in the recent telephone conversation are mentioned further in this letter.
It starts out saying "All storage...". That refers to any object which is placed on your property for
future use or disposal. An object which is in use is not stored, of course. Examples are landscaping, a
flag pole, a swing set which is permanently placed, a compost pile (as opposed to a pile of yard waste)
and anything else which is in use at the location in your yard.
It goes on to say "... shall be screened from view from the surrounding properties..." This means all
of the surrounding properties including those which face yours from across the street.
Later it speaks of"...sight screened from a non elevated view..." This means that a person standing
just outside of the fence and facing your property should not be able to see the screened object. A
person who is elevated such as sitting by a second story window cannot expect this sight obscuring to
block their view of the screened items.
Please note that no storage is permitted in the front or flanking street yards . These yards are the entire
street frontage of your lot (both Barker and Mission) and extended twenty five feet into your lot from
your property line. Your property line is about fifteen feet from the edge of the street.The space
between your property and the street is public right of way just like the space taken by the street itself.
To verify the status of this apparent violation, we will visit the property again after
June 21, 1996 If you have questions about this, please call.
