1984, 08-15 Permit Process Concern MemoOFFICE OF THE
CID
PLANNING DEPARMEN
DATE August.15
SPOKANC COUNTY COURTNOUSC
, 1984
T0: Mark Holman, Building & Safety
FROM: John Nunnery, Subdivision Administrator
SUBJECT: Assurance that Building Permits are being issued pursuant accurate
and truthful information submitted by the applicant of a building permit.
Mark, a recent building permit worksheet for Winston A. Smith at 3514 N. Edgerton
(06543-3505) caused, once again, concern about the permit process - its liabilities
to Spokane County and particularly County employees signing permit worksheets.
My concern is that the information shown to us by the applicant for our "permit
worksheet signature" is no guarantee that it is the same information shown to
the other departments or even to your department for issuing the Building Permit.
Also we have no guarantee that this applicant is telling the truth, i.e. no
signature block of liability/perjury signed by the permit applicant.
It is my suggestion that any plot plans or other information submitted by a permit
applicant be stamped with a standard perjury signature block for the applicant's
signature which is coded or crossreferenced to the specific worksheet.
Currently this process seems to invite the applicant to deviate from all or part
of the truth since he is not liable, which leaves you, me and the County holding
"the bag".
I would appreciate your assistance and am willing to work with you on some
"brainstorming."
Thanks.
