KENNEY RD. OTIS ORCHARDS, WA 99027 (509) 927-0120 / (509) 217-8007 July 26, 2006 Mr. Tom Scholtens, C.B.O. Building Official City of Spokane Valley 11707 E. Sprague Ave. Spokane Valley, WA 99206 Re: Stacey Rogers 17602 E. Indiana Ave., Spokane Valley, WA 99016 Dear Mr. Scholtens: EXPIRES: 5/12/07 7- I have visited the above referenced property and my observations are as follows: 1. The garage doors are 10' in width. The roof trusses rest on the door headers, giving a uniform distribution load of: 10# DL and 30# LL = 40#/sf. 40# X 12' = 480#/ ft. The headers presently used are 2-2 X 10's spanning 10'. Douglas Fir Use Book indicates that the use of a 4 X 10 beam/1500 psi fiber stress will support 545#/ft. (Uniform Loading) Therefore, use 1- 2 X 10 glued and nailed to the existing headers. 2. There is also the issue of the header overhang not being sufficient by 2-1/2". The solution to this is the addition of a 2 X 6 stud under the existing header beam in the middle of the overhang as well as gluingand nailing 3" o/c a 7/16 OSB sheathing on the structure under the overhang.
