Dear Mr. Barnes;
Enclosed is a check that refunds $108.56 paid for Spokane Valley Building
Permit #05-3605. That permit was issued for the proposed addition to an
accessory building located at 8419 E. Main, Spokane Valley, Washington.
The state of Washington and the City of Spokane Valley have adopted the 2003
Edition of the International Residential Code (IRC) as the code that regulates
the construction of accessory buildings and additions to accessory buildings
such as this. Section 105.6 of the IRC is on point with this situation.
105.6 Suspension or revocation.
The building official is authorized to suspend or revoke a permit issued
under the provisions of this code wherever the permit is issued in error
or on the basis of incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete information, or in
violation of any ordinance or regulation or any of the provisions of this
code.
I am sorry that we had to revoke this permit but, as we discussed yesterday,
that permit was issued in error. There already exists excess tot coverage for
accessory structures that presently is allowed in our Zoning Code. The
proposed addition is illegal as it would violate that code.
If you would care to view these codes they may be viewed at our office located
at 11707 E. Sprague, Spokane Valley, Washington 99206. If you would care to
appeal this decision, please contact this office for information on filing that
appeal.
Sincerely,
G
