Spokane County
Department of Building & Safety
JAMES L. MANSON, DIRECTOR

MR. RONALD ALLEN
East 15217 16th Avenue
Veradale, Washington 99037
Re: Stop Work Order - East 8024 Broadway Avenue
Parcel Number 18543-0243
Dear Mr. Allen:
As you are aware, a stop work order was placed on the project located
at the above referenced address, on August 22, 1989 because the
appropriate building permit(s) have not been issued/obtained.
County codes require a stop work order be issued when work has
started without a permit. The codes further specify that the work
shall not recommence until authorized by this department.
Also, and in addition to any other permit fees associated with this
project, the law requires that we assess an additional fee equal to
the amount of the building permit. Presumably this additional fee is
intended to offset those costs associated with the issuance of a
permit out of sequence with the county's day to day permit
activities. In addition it is our understanding the additional fee
is intended to encourage those contemplating construction to obtain
the necessary permits in advance.
Please contact this office as soon as possible so that we may help
you get back on track with your project. Our office hours are 8:00
a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Sincerely yours,
7eyyCCJJ

RE: No Valid Building Permit - East 8024 Broadway Avenue
Second Notice
Dear Mr. Allen:
A recheck of our files indicates that the appropriate permit has yet
to be obtained for the demolition of a residence and garage on your
property located at East 8024 Broadway Avenue, as specified in
Section 301 of the Uniform Building Code.
Because the ten (10) day time frame established in our letter to you
on August 22, 1989 has lapsed, and no effort was made on your part
to contact this office, a double fee will be assessed on your
permit, as per Section 304(e) of the Uniform Building Code.
It should be further noted that unless arrangements are made to
obtain the permit within ten (10) days from the date of this letter,
this matter will be referred to the Spokane County Prosecuting
Attorney's Office for legal action. Please be advised that a
violation of Title 3 of the Spokane County Code shall be a
misdemeanor and does carry a penalty.
Your cooperation in this matter will be appreciated.
Sincerely,
l
