Thomas, Dean & Hoskins Inc has conducted a visual structural inspection of the roof framing
conditions at the above address on February 16, 2012 The following report has been prepared
based on what was observed. Buildings have been inspected as much as possible without any form
of destructive testing. This report is based upon a limited structural survey and not every
connection, nut, bolt, nail, framing member, condition, or structural component was observed and
therefore cannot be validated.
To Whom It May Concern:
TD&H has been able to view a few locations of the roof system and noted the framing conditions,
and bearing locations. Not all areas of the roof were exposed and as such TD&H was only able to
estimate the framing conditions. In the areas where the roof framing was identifiable it was framed
with 2x8's spaced at 16" O.C. These roof rafters have been analyzed and are structurally capable of
carrying the current loads as well as the potential snow, drift snow, and new dead loads from the
new roof membrane. It is assumed that the other areas of the residence are also framed in a similar
way and should also be able to support the new minor dead load. As observed there were no signs
of structural problems that caused concern for this new roof to be installed.
Proper drainage and adequate slopes are required to prevent ponding which is critical for a roof
system to sustain large snow loads, please assure this is accounted for during construction. Please
note that not all locations of the roof were accessible and assumptions were made to best analyze
the roof system.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions and/or concerns regarding this project.
Sincerely,
THOMAS, DEAN & HOSKINS, INC.
