The loads were determined considering reinforcing in the lintel consisting of (2) #4 grade 60 rebar located at 5" from the top of the wail. For the 4'-3" wide lintels and 6" walls the allowable uniform load is 870 plf or a concentrated load at the center of 3000 lbs. For the 4'-3" wide lintels and 8" walls the allowable uniform load is 1180 plf or a concentrated load at the center of 4000 lbs. For the 5'-3" wide lintels and 6" walls the allowable uniform load is 660 plf or a concentrated load at the center of 2970 lbs. For the 5'-3" wide lintels and 8" walls the allowable uniform load is 880 plf or a concentrated load at the center of 3520 lbs. For the 6'3" wide lintels and 6" walls the allowable uniform load is 530 plf or a concentrated load at the center of 2760 lbs. For the 6'3" wide lintels and 8" walls the allowable uniform load is 710 plf or a concentrated load at the center of 2885 lbs. Attached are drawings showing each case. I will mail three sets of the information later today. Additional load capacity can be achieved by adding stirrups. Please call if you have any questions or if you need any additional information.
