As we discussed, our district field inspector has received and verified reports concerning the rear door of the residence and the garage door being open. Section 11.414 of the Uniform Fire Code stipulates that, "Every person owning or in charge or control of any vacant building shall remove therefrom all accumulations of flammable or combustible waste or rubbish and shall securely lock, barricade or otherwise secure all doors, windows and other openings thereof." In light of the length of time this matter has been pending, we are of the opinion that a period of 14 days, beginning with your receipt of this letter, should be sufficient time for you to bring this property into com- pliance with code requirements by securing all doors, windows, etc. Do not hesitate to act upon this important matter, since a violation of the Spokane County Zoning Ordinance is a misdemeanor and does carry a penalty. 2 NORTH 811 JEFFERSON SPOKANE.
